Graduation on Saturday; Whichard to give remarks

The School of Education will hold its graduation ceremony on Saturday, with the event beginning at 1 p.m. in the Dean Smith Center. Willis “Bill” Whichard, former N.C. Supreme Court justice, will be the guest speaker. Graduates will begin lining up for the ceremony at 12:15 on the ground floor of the Smith Center, in the tunnels behind the stage. Counselor organization cites Robert Martinez study

The Ronald H. Frederickson Center for School Counseling Outcome Research and Evaluation has included a Robert Martinez study in a listing of research that has identified best practices for school counselors. The study, Promoting Career and College Readiness, Aspirations, and Self Efficacy: Curriculum Field Test, was published in Career Development Quarterly in 2017.

Robert Martinez, assistant professor of school counseling, was cited in a Huffington Post article about things to know when seeking a therapist. In the article, “12 Things You Should Know Before Finding A Therapist,” Martinez is quoted in item No. 8: “Know your sessions will take effort.”

Graig Meyer, member of the N.C. House, and faculty member George Noblit are co-authors of the new monograph “More Than A Mentoring Program: Attacking Institutional Racism.” Published by Information Age, the book is part of a series “Perspectives on Mentoring.”
