Instructional Technology
Adobe Acrobat Connect Enterprise
(formerly Macromedia Breeze)
Instructional use of technology at the School of Education continues to evolve and expand into more and more academic areas. In its continuing effort to grow the online course offerings available to potential learners throughout North Carolina and beyond, in 2004 the School became a founding member in a UNC partnership using Macromedia Breeze.
Along with four other professional schools on campus, The School of Education is utilizing Adobe® Acrobat® Connect™'s rich capabilities to offer both synchronous and asynchronous multimedia course content. In addition, Acrobat Connect is being used for student teacher mentoring and coaching, conducted online via the web between UNC and remote sites throughout the state.
Blackboard
Blackboard Academic Suite™ is the primary application used at UNC-Chapel Hill for online course content. Even courses that meet face-to-face each week often have a Blackboard space that the instructor uses to offer additional course material. Many School of Education courses include a Blackboard component. To access the Blackboard server at UNC, users must have an Onyen account (see the FAQ page for details).
