Helen Crompton, an international student from England currently studying for a Ph.D. in the Culture, Curriculum, and Change program, won the McKeachie Award for a paper on pedagogical practice focusing on developing critical thinkers. The award also provided funding for Crompton to attend and present at the Improving University Teaching International Conference in Washington, D.C., in July.

At the conference, Crompton made a presentation on how faculty members may use interactive internet-based applications to help students develop critical thinking skills. Crompton has been invited to make a presentation on the topic at a conference next year in Bielefeld, Germany.
