Heidi Hollingsworth Wins Dissertation Award

Heidi Hollingsworth, a Ph.D. student in early childhood, families and literacy, received a James J. Gallagher Dissertation Award, presented by the Frank Porter Graham Child Development Institute. The award honors Dr. Jim Gallagher, a Kenan professor emeritus of the School of Education and former director of the Frank Porter Graham Child Development Institute.
In her research, Hollingsworth is investigating how parent and professional practices support developing friendships of young children with disabilities. She plans to develop ways for teachers and families to help children who have difficulty with peer relations.
