Congratulations and best of luck to two of our alumni teachers who are competing in Final Fours!

Cindi Rigsbee (A.B.Ed. ’79, M.Ed. ’03) is one of the Final Four candidates for the 2009 National Teacher of the Year. A middle grades teacher in Orange County, N.C., Cindi is currently North Carolina’s Teacher of the Year.

The four national finalists will be honored by President Barack Obama in late April, when the National Teacher of the Year is named.

Head coach Roy Williams (A.B.Ed. ’72, M.A.T. ’73) is leading the UNC Tar Heels men’s basketball team to the Final Four of the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Championship. Carolina will take on Villanova in the semifinal game on Saturday, April 4 at approximately 8:45 p.m.

The UNC men’s basketball team also has been selected as the 2009 national champion of the NCAA Men’s Academic Performance Tournament based on their classroom performance.
