SOE@Work Colloquia on Wednesday features Morehead, Pharmacy partnerships

The SOE@Work Colloquia event scheduled for Wednesday will feature Todd Boyette, director of the Morehead Planetarium & Science Center, and Jacqui McLaughlin of the Eshelman School of Pharmacy. Faculty member Sharon Derry will introduce the session, which will explore collaborations in which the School of Education is working with Morehead and the School of Pharmacy. Lunch will be provided. The event begins at 12:30, in Peabody 02.

Neil Shipman service scheduled for Tuesday

A memorial service is scheduled for Tuesday for Neil Shipman, who had worked since 2001 as a clinical associate professor of school leadership at the School of Education. Shipman died earlier this month at age 75. A funeral mass will be conducted, beginning at 10 a.m., at St. Thomas More Catholic Church. A reception will follow in the church fellowship hall. Faculty invited to Recharge and Reconnect session on Saturday

All SOE faculty are invited to come to lunch during the Recharge and Reconnect session scheduled for Saturday. The R&R sessions bring recent graduates of SOE teacher-preparation programs together to talk about challenges they’ve faced in their work and to develop solutions to them. Faculty who would like to attend lunch are asked to RSVP to Betsy Barrow by Wednesday, Nov. 9, at bbarrow@live.unc.edu.

High School Journal seeking manuscripts

The High School Journal, managed by graduate students at the School of Education, is seeking manuscripts for its next edition. The High School Journal publishes research papers, essays and reviews that examine the field of secondary education. For information or to submit a manuscript visit soe.unc.edu/hsj or send an email to highschooljournal@unc.edu. Doctoral student Sarah Byrne Bausell is this serving as editor of the journal this year.
