LEARN NC joins project to create lesson plans about World War I cemetery

LEARN NC, an outreach arm of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill's School of Education, has been chosen to lead a $357,000 project to create lesson plans and other teaching materials for use by middle school and high school students learning about World War I.

Schools again separate and unequal

Scottish professor to give talk about approaches to new teacher preparation

Beth Dickson, deputy head of the School of Education at the University of Glasgow, will give a talk in which she will describe efforts to help new teachers improve their practice. The March 5 talk is entitled “The end of ‘sink or swim?’ Clinical approaches to teacher preparation in the early phase” and is part of the School of Education’s “Research and Practice Series” brown bag lunches.

British historian to talk about state of history scholarship, education

Consortium including LEARN NC to use grant to develop geospatial technology curriculum

A consortium including LEARN NC, UNC-Chapel Hill School of Education’s outreach arm, has been awarded a $43,600 grant to help create a curriculum for grades 6-8 that uses geospatial technology to integrate humanities content with science, technology, engineering and mathematics skills.
