Save the date! 125th Anniversary Committee announces celebratory event Sept. 25, 2010
Feb. 24, 2010
The year 2010 marks the 125th anniversary of the establishment of the School of Education at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. A 125th Anniversary Committee has been formed to plan a celebration commemorating this milestone.
Co-chaired by alumnae Barbara Holland Chapman (Ph.D. ’81) and Nancy Farmer (A.B.Ed. ’69, M.Ed. ’70, Ed.D. ’81), the committee held an initial planning meeting on Jan. 22. Members of the group discussed the goals for the 125th Anniversary Celebration and shared ideas for activities and events.
The committee set Saturday, Sept. 25, 2010, as the date of a major event commemorating the 125th anniversary. The day’s activities will include the Annual Alumni Awards luncheon, a series of panel presentations, a keynote address and a reception.
“This is an exciting opportunity to celebrate the great history of our School of Education,” said co-chair Barb Chapman. “Our graduates have had an amazing impact on education across this state and nation.
“We look forward to bringing alumni and friends together to commemorate this Carolina milestone,” she continued. “Throughout the year, we encourage our alumni to organize events with fellow graduates. We hope many of you will take part in what promises to be a monumental year!”
Mark your calendar for Sept. 25 and plan to join us in Chapel Hill for the celebration. More information will be posted on the School of Education Web site as plans develop.
