Foundation Board meets, oversees funds

Laurie J. Norman

Laurie Norman works to build and maintain a productive relationship with alumni, friends and supporters of the School of Education. She oversees the School’s alumni program and recommends and implements strategies to increase the value of events for our key constituencies and for the School. In addition, she coordinates the Annual Fund for alumni and friends of the School of Education.

As an undergraduate at Carolina, Norman was a founding member of the Order of the Bell Tower – the student alumni association – and served as its president her senior year. In July 1983, she joined the staff of the General Alumni Association where she worked for 13 years as the director of alumni activities. In 1996, she joined Gilchrist Alumni Management Associates in Chapel Hill as vice president and co-owner. She returned to Carolina with the School of Education in December 2002.

Norman is an active community volunteer, serving as a board member of the University Woman’s Club, the treasurer of the Preservation Society of Chapel Hill and a member of the Board of Trustees of University United Methodist Church.
