Dean Bill McDiarmid comments on a study of teacher preparation and teacher effectiveness that was presented recently to the University of North Carolina Board of Governors. A major finding of the study – conducted by Gary Henry, a UNC public policy professor, and colleagues – was that the lowest performing students often have inexperienced teachers. Numerous additional findings are also discussed.
