Patricia Shane Named N.C.’s Outstanding Science Educator

Pat Shane, associate director of the Center for Mathematics and Science Education and clinical associate professor in the School of Education, received the Vi Hunsucker Award as the Outstanding Science Educator in North Carolina for 2005. The award was presented by the N.C. Science Teachers Association (NCSTA) at their annual conference in November 2005. Named after NCSTA’s founder and first president, the award is the highest honor bestowed by the organization, recognizing an outstanding science educator who has gone above and beyond the call of duty to serve the students and teachers of North Carolina and the nation. The NCSTA, established in 1969, is an association of science teachers from across the state who join together to promote excellence in the teaching and learning of science.
