Symposium
Symposium for Education graduate students and faculty on facilitating faculty/student collaboration
The School of Education’s Graduate Student Association (GSA) will host the School’s Annual Symposium on Wednesday, May 7. The symposium brings together School of Education graduate students and faculty from across program areas to discuss educational issues and research interests. It aims to foster collaborations that contribute to scholarly productivity.
The focus for the 2008 Symposium is the development of new models that will effectively facilitate faculty/student collaboration. The agenda includes presentations on challenges and solutions to faculty/student research collaborations, models of collaboration, faculty opportunities for collaboration, and break-out sessions.
The Symposium is sponsored by the Graduate and Professional Student Federation. Box lunches will be provided. There is no charge to participate, but advance registration is required by May 2.

Toy drive
Toy drive to benefit Orange County Social Services
The Graduate Student Association is conducting a “Toys for Tots” toy drive. Toys will be given to the Orange County Department of Social Services (DSS), who will provide them to needy and endangered children in Chapel Hill, Carrboro and Hillsborough. Last year, DSS was able to serve only a small fraction of the 6,000 children registered in its system. Please bring an unwrapped toy to the box in the Graduate Student Lounge (Peabody Hall, Room 202) by December 20.
