Lynda Stone’s research interests focus on philosophy of education, broadly defined as social theory. She is newly appointed co-editor of the series “Contemporary Philosophies and Theories of Education” for the international publisher, Springer. She is editor of several books and special journal issues, and author of articles, book chapters, and reviews totaling nearly 100 published pieces. She is also a frequent presenter at international and national conferences, with more than 130 appearances to date.

Stone is known for several lines of research in educational thought: poststructuralist perspectives, the writings of John Dewey, feminist theory, and philosophies of curriculum and history. Recent writings are part of an emerging interest in social ethics; working title of a book project is “Mirror for Our Ethics: Youth, School, and Philosophy.” A second current project is a co-edited handbook on poststructuralism and education for the Dutch-based publisher, Sense (with James D. Marshall). Other recent work includes critical views of educational research, including topics such as rhetoric and methodology in research practice.
