“One of the more common complaints about No Child Left Behind concerns its use of standardised testing. Even Barack Obama has criticised the nature of student assessment, arguing that current tests ‘simply measure whether students can fill in a bubble.’ But testing and standard setting is a complex business, and the critiques often perpetuate common misconceptions.” Gregory Cizek, a professor at the University of North Carolina's School of Education who specialises in testing policy, is interviewed about these issues.
