The intent of the STEM-ICT 3D project is to motivate and provide the skills necessary for diverse, under-represented, 7th grade students to pursue studies and careers in STEM disciplines, particularly information communications technologies (ICT). This will be accomplished through the student creation and use of 3D immersive virtual world technology to develop solutions to real world problems. Educators involved in the STEM-ICT 3D project will be provided with the technical support, tools, pedagogical knowledge, and professional community they need to successfully integrate the new 3D technologies into their instruction in such a way that it motivates students to pursue ICT-related studies.
