Upward Bound Program

Formerly under the School of Education, Upward Bound is now under the Office of the Provost.

Summary

The Upward Bound Program at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UB-UNC) is designed to provide services to 90 eligible high school youth to assist them in building skills and motivation that will ensure success in education beyond high school. UB-UNC recruits and serves students who are 9th or 10th graders and are low-income and potential first generation college students, including 30% higher risk youth, from the target high schools, that remain enrolled in the program throughout high school and immediately after high school graduation. The Program has three major components - Academic Year (Saturday Enrichment Academy and After School Institute), Summer Residential, and Bridge (for college preparation for recent graduates of the program).
