Overview

Daniel M. Huff is recognized for his skill in choral conducting, his interest in the young voice and his dedication to teacher preparation and socialization. He holds dual appointments in the School of Education and the Department of Music, teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in the School of Education’s Master of Arts in Teaching Program in music education and teaching choral conducting, voice and piano techniques courses as area head of music education in the Department of Music.

Huff has presented 70 classroom choral clinics for teachers and students, more than 20 local and national in-service sessions for public school teachers and pre-service teacher candidates and conducted or adjudicated more than 120 festivals and workshops involving public school students from the Mid-West to the Southeast. His current activities include the All-Carolina Invitational Male Choral Festival, which brings 200+ high school singers and their teachers to Chapel Hill, the annual High School Music Camp, and conducting the Wake County Public Schools High School All-County Choral Festival and the NC Independent Schools’ All-State Choral Festival.

Huff also conducts the UNC Men's Glee Club – a group touring regularly in the Mid-West, East and Southeast – and is director of the UNC Chapel Hill Summer Music Camp. In 1990, he was named "Outstanding Young Man of America" in recognition of his "outstanding professional attainment, superior leadership ability and exceptional service to community," and in 1999, received the UNC Chapel Hill Undergraduate Student Teaching Award.
