Collegiate Middle Level Association

The UNC Chapel Hill Collegiate Middle Level Association (CMLA) is a student group on campus focused on Middle School teachers. It is a pre-professional organization affiliated with the National Middle School Association (NMSA) and soon the North Carolina Middle School Association (NCMSA).

The purpose of the CMLA chapter is to “support and encourage students of middle level education; advance appropriate middle level education; support standards and recommendations which enhance middle level concepts, practices, and ideas; and promote and invite collegiate participation at national, state, and regional middle level conferences.”

The CMLA group hopes to be very involved at the university level also by participating in many charitable causes such as the recent School of Education food drive for the local soup kitchen and the AIDS week march and quilt as well as many others. CMLA also hope to invite speakers from the community to speak on topics of interest to middle school teachers.
