Online Programs & Courses

Overview

The School of Education offers many interesting online programs and courses. Some of these combine online work with face-to-face meetings, and some are fully online, requiring no face-to-face meetings. Some are open to all students. Some are open only to students in particular programs. Additionally, we offer two fully online programs — the Carolina Online Lateral Entry program (COLE) and the Literacy (Reading) Add-on Licensure program.

We are proud to be on a campus that affords us the opportunity to provide innovative and effective online delivery. Many of our online courses (and all of them in the two online programs) are offered primarily through Adobe® Acrobat® Connect™ Enterprise, an easy-to-use, web-based technology that offers both synchronous and asynchronous learning environments. Using Acrobat Connect students can meet online simultaneously, see and hear their instructor, view PowerPoint presentations and other shared content, engage in small group discussions via text chat, and even conduct videoconferences or mentoring sessions. In some courses, web cams are loaned to students so that the instructor and other students in your course may "visit" you in your classroom.
