Faculty

There are three full-time faculty associated with our program:

Photo of Patrick Akos

Patrick Akos

Akos holds a Ph.D. in Counselor Education from the University of Virginia. He has experience as an elementary and a middle school counselor. He holds several counseling licenses (NC K-12 school counseling licensure, NC LPC) and certificates (NCC, NCSC, ACS), as well as teacher certification (NC middle grades social studies; 7-12 sociology).

John Galassi, Program Coordinator

Galassi holds a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from the University of California, Berkeley. He received training in school counseling in his master's program at Harvard University.

Dana Griffin

Griffin holds a Ph.D. in Counselor Education from the College of William and Mary. She has experience as a middle school counselor and co-director of a family counseling center. She holds school counseling licensure (VA K-12) and is nationally certified as a counselor (NCC).

Duane Brown

Brown holds a Ph.D. in Counselor Education from Purdue University and received training in school counseling in a yearlong NDEA Institute prior to entering his doctoral program. He is a former coordinator of the school counseling program and was a member of the core faculty from 1973 until he entered phased retirement in 2006.

Kelly Coker

Coker holds a Ph.D. in Counseling and Counselor Education from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She has experience as a drug prevention and intervention specialist in K-12 schools and a Licensed Professional Counselor in private practice. She had national certification (NCC) and counselor.

Conroy holds her Ph.D. in Counselor Education from North Carolina State University. She is a retired elementary school counselor and has recently served as the President of the North Carolina Counseling Association.

Tammie Ducré-Moore

Ducré-Moore holds her Ph.D in Counseling Psychology from Loyola University in Chicago. She is a licensed clinical psychologist in private practice.
