School Counseling program ranked in the top 20 by U.S. News & World Report

The UNC-Chapel Hill School of Education, School Counseling program was recognized according to rankings released on March 28, 2008, by U.S. News & World Report.

School Counseling named 2006 Outstanding Counselor Education Program

The School Counseling, M.Ed., program at the School of Education recently received recognition when it was named the 2006 Outstanding Counselor Education Program by the Southern Association for Counselor Education and Supervision (SACES). The award was presented Sept. 9 at the 2006 SACES Conference in Orlando, Fla.

Kelley Dull (M.Ed. '02) named 2008 ASCA School Counselor of the Year semi-finalist

Kelley Dull, who received her master’s degree in School Counseling from the School of Education in 2002, has been named a semi-finalist for the 2008 School Counselor of the Year Award from the American School Counselor Association (ASCA). 

Michael Brannigan (M.Ed. '03) named NYSSCA Counselor of the Year

Michael Brannigan, a 2003 graduate of the School’s M.Ed. program in school counseling, was named 2007 Counselor of the Year by the New York State School Counselor Association (NYSSCA). Brannigan currently is in his fifth year as a counselor at Queensbury Middle School in upstate New York.

Tamara Davis (M.Ed. '87, A.B.Ed. '85) named Counselor Educator of the Year

Tamara Davis, a 1987 graduate of the School’s Master of Education program in School Counseling was recently named Counselor Educator of the Year by the American School Counselor Association (ASCA). She is an assistant professor of psychology at Marymount University in Arlington, Va.

Amber Jackson receives 2006 ASCA Foundation Scholarship, one of 10 nationwide

Amber Jackson, a master’s student in the School Counseling program, has been named one of 10 recipients nationwide to receive the 2006 American School Counselor Association (ASCA) Foundation Scholarship.

Travis Lewis (M.Ed. '00 in School Counseling) receives School of Education Outstanding Young Alumnus Award

The Outstanding Young Alumnus Award was presented to Travis Lewis, director of Pitt County Schools’ student services department, whose achievements as a school counselor have helped children, especially those at risk, achieve success in school and in life.
