Master of Education for Experienced Teachers, M.Ed.
Early Childhood Intervention and Family Support

Program of Studies

The M.Ed. program is a 34-36 credit hour program; with 27 hours of required course work, 4-6 hours of applied internship and supervised leadership and research experiences, and 3 hours of elective course work. Students enroll in the graduate internship (EDUC 668) throughout their program in order to complete research, leadership, and field-based assignments. Internship hours may vary for individual students based on individuals' prior experience. Internship assignments are designed for practicing professionals to engage in applied research and assessment/intervention projects in their early childhood setting. Enrolled students who are not employed in early childhood settings will be assigned to a community-based, inclusive program serving young children with and without disabilities and their families.

Students develop leadership skills focused on collaborative consultation, resource gathering, applied research and the promotion of quality learning environments for all young children. Upon completion of the program requirements, students with initial teaching licensure are eligible for the advanced B-K licensure in North Carolina.
