Elementary Education Program, A.B.Ed.

For Instructors - Evaluating Program Assessment Assignments

  • Program Assessment Assignments
    (Directions & Rubric Information)
You will need to obtain the required username and password from your program coordinator.

Instructions

  1. You will be provided with a printed set of rubrics to complete, with the header information already entered for each of your students. If you prefer an alternative method for receiving these rubrics, please email the Assessment Assistant at: soe_assessment_assistant@unc.edu.

    Important Notes:
    • If any remediation was needed on any of your students' submissions, please record the steps taken on the corresponding rubric form.
    • In courses with multiple sections, 10% (or 3, whichever is greater) of the student assignments must be reviewed by a second instructor (for inter-rater agreement). Once consensus has been reached between the student's primary instructor and the second reviewer, the primary instructor, ONLY, will submit the completed course project rubric (indicating the final, agreed upon ratings).
  1. Once all FINAL assessments (rubrics) for a particular course assignment have been completed (per semester), please:
    • paper clip them together
    • submit the packet of completed rubrics to our Assessment Assistant in 017 Peabody Hall OR place in Gwen Ray's mailbox, so that the data can be entered into our assessment system.
The email address for the Assessment Assistant is soe_assessment_assistant@unc.edu.
  1. Starting spring semester 2008, students will be required to submit their work online via the SOE Upload Center for all program assessment assignments. This will eliminate the need for you to identify and submit sample student work. Students will be receiving monthly automated email messages containing the information related to this procedure.

You will be notified if there are exceptions to this procedure for your particular course.

    For additional information, go to:
For Students - Submitting Program Assessment Assignments

    Very Important Note:
The requirement for students to submit their work online via the SOE Upload Center is in addition to, not in lieu of, the procedure you want them to follow to submit their work to you for review (e.g., hardcopy, Blackboard, email).

  1. Please remind your students that in addition to submitting their program assessment assignments via the SOE Upload Center, they MUST save/store the electronic versions of their work to a SAFE/SECURE location. This is necessary so that they can access these files for future needs (e.g., supporting artifacts for future Synthesis and Evaluation Statements).

We are strongly recommending that students save the electronic versions of their work to their campus AFS (H: Drive) server space, which is secure and backed up nightly. Undergraduate students receive 100MB of AFS server space and graduate students receive 250MB of AFS server space as soon as they register for their Onyen.
