Elementary Education Program, A.B.Ed.

Program of Studies

The Bachelor of Arts in Education (A.B.Ed.) degree in elementary education is a 121-semester hour (120-semester hours, class of 2008 and 2009) program that includes General College requirements primarily completed in the freshman and sophomore years.

The program is four semesters long, beginning in the student's junior year. The first semester focuses on the child and emergent literacy. The second semester focuses on the school, community, society, healthful living, literacy across the curriculum, physical education and aesthetics. During the third semester, in the fall of the senior year, the focus is on curriculum and methods in science, mathematics and literacy. The fourth semester is centered on teaching.
