Step 4: Provide Appropriate Accommodations and Modifications, Including Technology, and Monitor Student Progress

You may use the plan that you outlined in part 3 of the case study, or if you find that you have learned more about your student and would like to alter that plan, you may choose other accommodations, modifications and technology for this part of the case study.   

Directions for Step 4

  3. Type the information to complete each form for your portfolio.

Task 4A: Monitor Student Progress

This task should be done in correspondence with 4B.  You will select two of the four interventions you have chosen for your student.  You should have objectives in mind when choosing the interventions you will implement with your student.  You will need to select and record 2 of these objectives and then create a method of assessing your student’s progress based on your clinical teaching plan.  Be sure to include your individualized teaching plan in your write up.  Keep data of your assessments and submit that along with the write up for part 4A.  You will also need to write a summary and interpretation of the data collected.

Task 4B: Individual Student Interventions

You will need to select 4 different interventions that you will implement in order to help your case study student succeed in the classroom. These interventions should be specific to your child’s special needs and should not be simply good teaching practices that you will use with all students. (Although you may certainly use these interventions with other students, but they should be developed with your student’s needs in mind.) Begin implementing these interventions as soon as you can during your student teaching.  You will need to record the interventions used, results and a reflection when writing up results for 4B.

Task 4C:  Technology

You will need to gather information from 3 different technology sources to support you in teaching your case study student.  You will also need to research and implement the use of 2 specific technology supports that you will use directly with your student.  You will then need to write up these results in 4C.
