| Description | Provides an analysis of issues related to contemporary families of young children. The family is viewed within individual social and cultural contexts as well as a family systems orientation. Issues regarding family adaptation to early childhood programs, parent-professional partnerships and interactions, respecting family concerns and priorities, and the legal and ethical rights of parents and their young child are emphasized. Students reflect on their own values and issues concerning families and how to improve family-professional relations. |
