My background

I was born and raised in South Korea. My family moved to North Carolina from Maryland because of the excellent reputation of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Why I chose education

I have been working with students since middle school when I joined a tutoring/mentoring program in the sixth grade. To this day, I remember the feeling I experienced when I interacted with the students. I believe that children are the future and that through teaching, I can help young people reach their full potential.

My experience

I have had only positive experiences in the School of Education. The Middle Grades program is designed so that the teaching candidate enjoys success in the classroom both during the program and after graduation.  If I had to do it all over again, I would make the same choice of university and major. I believe that students from all walks of life can find a home in Chapel Hill as I did.

My inspiration

The professors in the Middle Grades program are true role models. I have learned so many important lessons from them in the past two years, lessons I will take with me when I graduate this May and enter the teaching field.

In 10 years

I hope to be a mother with children who love to learn.
