My background

I grew up in a small town in North Carolina. While in high school, I tutored middle school students who were struggling with math, and I discovered my love for that age group.

Why I chose the UNC School of Education

I was chosen as a Teaching Fellows scholar in high school and was really impressed with the Teaching Fellows program here. But the truth is that my whole life, my dream has been to attend UNC. There was no other place that I wanted to go to college.

My experience

The Middle Grades program has far exceeded my expectations. The professors and staff have gone beyond the call of duty to make all students feel “at home.” As president of the Collegiate Middle Level Association, I have had the opportunity to be involved in a wide range of activities, including fundraisers, recruitment opportunities and more.  I have thoroughly enjoyed being a part of the School of Education.

Student Life

My time at Carolina has been all that I had hoped for it to be and more. From dorm life to new and old friends, from student organizations to exciting sporting events, I will always hold Carolina close to my heart.

In 10 years…

In 10 years, I hope to own a small educationally-based business. I would like to be able to provide tutoring services for students who may be struggling or just need encouragement in their studies.
