As of the Summer of 2012, the School of Education adopted a new organizational structure for our academic programs. In considering a new way to organize, the administration and faculty had four primary goals:
- Quality: To ensure the best possible learning experiences for our students
- Collaboration: To create opportunities for faculty to work together in potentially new ways that benefit students, the School of Education and UNC Chapel Hill
- Inclusiveness: To provide an avenue for all those affected by program decisions to have a voice in those decisions
- Simplicity and efficiency: To limit the number of organizational layers and therefore enable more work to be accomplished with clearer lines of decision making and in less time.
With those goals in mind, the new academic structure of the School of Education is organized into two areas:
