Welcome to the Teaching and Learning (T&L) Area. Our focus is the promotion of equity and excellence in the education of all children and youth, from birth to age 21. Our programs emphasize inquiry and reflection integrating research, field-based practice and collaboration with school and community partners. We seek to prepare teacher leaders who can improve schools for the 21st century.

We offer a variety of programs for traditional undergraduate students as well as individuals seeking to change careers and become teachers. In addition, we offer programs for practicing teachers who are seeking a master’s degree or want to earn licensure in a new area. Our faculty work closely with schools and communities, engaging in research and service projects to improve the quality of life for children, youth and families in schools in North Carolina and throughout the country.

Whether you are a novice or an experienced educator, I urge you to join us in our pursuit of equity and excellence for all learners and their families in 21st century schools.

Please contact us if you would like additional information.
