Celebrating 125 Years

Dear Alumni and Friends,

At the School of Education, we are celebrating our 125th anniversary in 2010! We are proud of our long history and the impact that our faculty and alumni have had on education.

Founded in 1885, the School of Education was one of the first professional schools established at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Now spanning three centuries, the work of our School has focused on learning, teaching and leading in education. Our mission is to support students, educators, schools and families in the state of North Carolina and across the nation through innovative instructional programs, research and partnerships.

Our goal is to help ensure that every student has the opportunities and support needed to reach his or her maximum potential as an individual, worker, family and community member, and citizen of a democratic society.

We hope you’ll explore this Web site to learn more about the 2010 celebration and ways you can get involved. However you choose to participate, we look forward to welcoming you home!
